A spear slipped from the redhead’s fingers, its fall to the bloodstained grass somehow echoing in her ears.

For the first time since she could remember, she saw herself as a girl; not a woman. Her soldiers were dying under her command like lambs to the slaughter, and there was nothing she could do; nothing she could think to do.

“Brother…” She muttered, eyes half-glazed as she watched that damnable dragon tear his way through Hoshidan men and women like they were tissue paper. “Why?”

Her name was Hinoka, and she had been betrayed. Just after she’d rescued her brother, Corrin, from the kingdom that had kidnapped him; he’d defected to their side. It was the greatest insult a royal like her could fathom, made all the worse by the fact that he was an infuriatingly good tactician.

She’d spent her whole life studying to protect him, and all of her strength was useless in the face of his own strength. He had the power to become a dragon; to change his fate as he saw fit. And today, he had come to lay conquest to the kingdom that was his birthright.

A wet warmth splashed against her cheeks, and Hinoka flinched. She played her fingers against it, looking down to them in the expectation of seeing the crimson stain of blood she’d grown far too familiar with.

Much to her surprise, it was clear, like water. Another drop fell onto her hands as she stared, and her heart clenched as she realized she was crying. “Corrin… I’ve failed you.” She said, falling to her knees. For the first time since her brother had been taken, she allowed herself the weakness of shedding tears.

Despite the day’s horrors, it felt good to let her sorrow out. Warm, even. It was like she was using her royal bloodline to tap into the ground below, channeling the strength of the First Dragons. She wiped her eyes and prepared to grab her spear once more, only to pause in shock for the second time in as many minutes.

The ground beneath her was glowing, and a pure energy coruscated through her being. It really was a Dragon Vein, and one stronger than any she’d experienced in her life. Hope blossomed in the girl’s heart, and she dropped a hand to it, letting the strength of her royalty channel its might.

“Please, hear my prayers. I don’t know what you do; I don’t know which of the First Dragons created you… But please, give me the power to protect…” Her tongue faltered at the word ‘Corrin’, habit almost causing her to say the name of her treacherous brother. “My people.” She settled on, still clinging to the dream that he’d join her again.

It seemed that her plea was good enough for the Vein, and it flared to life. In the past, Dragon Veins had caused anything from floods to earthquakes. She feverishly hoped that this would be enough; that it would be sufficient to turn the tide on the Nohrian scum.

But instead of bringing about a disaster as expected, the energy instead began to flow towards Hinoka-then into her. A gasp of sensation escaped her mouth as her skin shimmered, glowing with a rich azure that contrasted her eyes.

Her skin crawled as the glowing settled across it, and the girl looked to her hands and arms in shock, watching as small glowing lines trailed across her smooth skin. Ridges formed along these lines, pressing out and converting her flesh into scale.

“The power of the first dragons…” She breathed in awe, a vindictive smile settling across her face. She didn’t think it was possible, but she also hadn’t thought it possible for Corrin to become a dragon either. And if her suspicions were correct, she’d now have the power to turn the tide.

“Corrin!” She roared, her fingernails lengthening to talons; claws bursting from her greaves below her. “Face m-whoa!”

The growth of a tail set her off balance, and she fell hard onto her hands, groaning as her shoulders and hips cracked loudly. The girl kicked at the ground, her new talons carving furrows in the earth. She could feel her arms and legs swelling with new muscle, growing larger and bulkier with every passing second.

“W-wait, this is a little too far, I’m fine with just having the strength of the dragons on second thought!” Hinoka blurted in a panic, realizing how bestial her body was becoming.

Unfortunately for her, it seemed that the changes were in no mood to listen. A roar escaped her mouth as her neck lengthened, her torso buckling; then splitting her armor’s leather straps as it grew. Surprisingly, her cotton garments beneath lasted a few seconds longer-but only a few.

The fabric creaked as it stretch; then tore with a volume that echoed through Hinoka’s world. She looked down to her chest in surprise, watching in shock as her breasts swelled gently. A moan escaped her lips as her breasts shifted color to the light patterning of her front. Her nipples in turn became a deep crimson, matching her cheeks.

“Ah-ah!” Hinoka yelped, craning her long neck and whimpering in surprise as she noticed just how much of herself she could see. She could clearly see the small of her back, as well as her lengthening shoulderblades.

They stretched out from her back farther and farther with each passing second, a webbing forming between them that confirmed her suspicions: she was growing wings. As impossible as it seemed, she really was becoming a dragoness-and a full-fledged one, at that!

A roar passed her lips as her face cracked out into a snout, teeth sharpening into the jutted daggers of a predator. Her nostrils widened across this reptilian muzzle as her nose sank back into her stretching face, ears looking stretched and webbed as they came in.

Funnily enough, her hair remained the same, looking almost out of place atop her red scales. She caught sight of it in the reflection of what was once her breastplate, and the changing girl balked at the realization of how large she was getting.

It hadn’t hit her until now, but what had once covered her entire chest now looked to be the size of a hand mirror. She picked it up with a taloned hand, using it to get a better look at her face. In an almost dainty manner, the girl looked at her rounded snout, sharp teeth, and even her forked tongue.

The scales along her back pressed out into sharp, short ridges as she groaned, angling the mirror back for a moment before she realized that she could see them perfectly fine simply by craning her long neck in the right direction.

She used this to her advantage, looking at her body in stunned surprise, staring at how inhuman she was. Granted, her arms were still relatively humanoid-despite ending in clawed talons-but her legs! Her legs had the double joint almost of a dog, and thanks to her larger hips they seemed…

Her train of thought slowed as she looked to her backside, watching as her new tail stretched out from her spine. It was thick and serpentine, ending in a sharp tip not unlike the spear she’d dropped minutes ago.

With that, it seemed that her change was complete. The dragoness looked at her body, flexing her muscles and spreading her wings. Then, using the years of experience she had from flying a Pegasus, Hinoka leapt from the cliff’s peak towards Corrin, promptly tumbling down the hill with the realization that years of experience riding pegasi did not nearly equate to using her own body to fly.

She tried to turn the ungainly fall into a combat roll, her tail circling around herself like a dagger as she looked upon Corrin fighting back to back with a Nohrian mercenary with rose-colored hair. “You!” She roared, leaping towards him.

As expected, the dragon turned, blocking her attack with a swipe of his own clawed hand. His eyes bulged in surprise, and he growled under his breath. “What now? More trickery from Garon?”

Hinoka growled, swiping at him with her tail only to have it deflected by the blade of his companion. “What, you don’t recognize your own sister?” She roared defiantly.

Much to her shock, Corrin reverted back to a human on the spot, a glow surrounding his form as he shrank. “Hinoka?” He yelped, staring at her in shock.

“Yes! And just like my countrymen, today you die!” Hinoka bellowed, trying to pretend like she wasn’t as off-put at his regression as she was. It had to be some sort of Nohrian ploy.

“But we haven’t killed anyone!” The swordswoman beside her brother protested, waving a hand towards the battlefield. “Hell, the only one who’s doing anything is Hans, but he’s an ass!”

The dragoness forestalled her next attack, looking where the swordswoman was pointing to find that, sure enough, it seemed that Corrin’s band was doing a good job avoiding casualties. The Hoshidan screams she’d mistaken for those of the dead actually seemed to be rather complaints of sprained deltoids.

Hinoka stalled, and Corrin’s Nohrian companion grinned. “See? So, more of the not-fighting then? Honestly, it’d be shame to hurt someone so pretty… Especially when she’s such a fit for Corrin.” The woman elbowed Hinoka’s brother in the ribs, and he blushed.

“Right! So… Um… You’re looking good, Hinoka.” Corrin muttered, determinedly averting his gaze from the dragoness’s very bare breasts.

The pink-haired swordswoman seemed under no such inhibitions, and she lecherously eyed Hinoka’s naked body. “Understatement. I want one.” She said, eyes glimmering with something a little too close to lust for comfort.

A flush crept across the redheaded dragoness’s face, and she covered herself with a wing. “W-what!?” Hinoka yelped.

“Soleil…” Her brother warned the lech, and the girl shrugged, turning back for their camp, one which Hinoka now noticed was full of quite a few Hoshidans she’d thought dead.

“Suit yourself. I’ve had enough fighting for the day… Though I wouldn’t mind a bit of bedroom sparring. Esecially if it’s with your dear sister...” The swordswoman, Soleil, smiled.

Hinoka suppressed a shudder as she watched the woman go, looking back to her brother in search of an explanation.

“S-sorry about her, she’s… Individualistic. Anyways, um… Since I think you’ve now realized what’s going on… You can, you know, change back.”

“Ah… Yes… Change back…” Hinoka chuckled uneasily. “How do you do that, again?”

A gift for SketchyKnight for being absolutely incredible! Other than that, not much to say. I wanted to do something with Hinoka, and that thing happened to be a dragoness TF. :D
